The best moveset for Garchomp in Pokmon Go

Recommended Videos

Garchomp is an excellent Pokémon for you to add to your collection in Pokémon Go. It’s a strong choice, and it can withstand plenty of attacks during a battle. You primarily want to use Garchomp in the Ultra and Master Leagues. But you want to make sure you teach it the best moves available to it. This guide covers the best moveset to teach Garchomp in Pokémon Go.

Best Garchomp moveset in Pokémon Go

Garchomp is a Dragon and Ground-type Pokémon. It will be weak against Dragon, Fairy, and Ice-type moves but resistant to Electric, Fire, Poison, and Rock-type attacks. Because of its higher CP value, you only want to use it in the Master League. If it were to compete in the Ultra League, it would significantly underperform because its stats are capped, but it is possible.

Here are all of the moves Garchomp can learn.

Fast moves

  • Dragon tail (Dragon-type) – 13 damage and 3 energy (4.3 damage per turn) – 3 Turns
  • Mud shot (Ground-type) – 3 damage and 4.5 energy (1.5 damage per turn) – 2 Turns

When it comes to choosing Garchomp’s fast move, you have two tough options available to you. Mud Shot is a solid Ground-type move with a massive amount of energy, but Dragon Tail is also an equally good Dragon-type move but lacks the large energy uptick that mud shot provides. We recommend Mud Shot over Dragon Tail, but some players swear by Dragon Tail for Garchomp. It’s up to you and how you decide to use your Garchomp.

If you can afford to have two Garchomps in your collection, having one with each of these fast attacks is a good idea, especially if you want to experiment with your Pokémon teams against opponents.

Charged attacks

  • Earthquake (Ground-type) – 120 damage and 65 energy
  • Earth Power (Ground-type) – 90 damage and 55 energy (10% chance to lower opponent’s defense by one rank)
  • Fire Blast (Fire-type) – 140 damage and 80 energy
  • Outrage (Dragon-type) – 110 damage and 60 energy
  • Sand Tomb (Ground-type) – 25 damage and 40 energy (100% chance to lower opponent’s defenses by one rank)

Next, you have to select Garchomp’s charged attacks. Of all the options available, we highly recommend you go with Outrage and Earth Power. Earth Power is a strong Ground-type move that does a large amount of damage against an opponent, with a chance to lower their defenses. The other choice, Outrage, is a Dragon-type move capable of dealing more damage than Earth Power, but it costs much more energy. Having both of these on your Garchomp is the ideal setup. However, some players have created a Garchomp that uses the move Sand Tomb and recommend that option.

The best moveset to teach Garchomp in Pokémon Go is the fast move Mud Shot, followed by the charged attacks Earth Power and Outrage. However, you can also choose to go with a Garchomp that has the fast move Dragon Tail, or you can swap out Outrage for Sand Tomb. Garchomp is extremely customizable, and it’s an option. It doesn’t hurt to have multiple of them in your storage.
