Ferndale receives $170K grant to renovate Rigby Park

Officials say a $170,000 grant has been awarded to Ferndale Borough to rehabilitate “Rigby Park.”

Officials say the grant was made possible through the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ "Community Conservation Partnerships Program."

The planned upgrades include renovating the pavilion, construction of pedestrian walkways, installing play equipment and ADA access, as well as landscaping.

"You come down here any time in the summer time, or even in the winter, kids are out here playing basketball, our seniors have an opportunity to utilize the walking trail, you'll see them down there early in the morning. We were able to put restroom facilities up and tie it into the James Mayer Trail, so that was a really asset to us too."

The park is named after Rigby’s father Richard, who was the Ferndale Recreation Director for more than 30 years.
