Israeli government unable to confirm babies were beheaded in Hamas attack, official says

The Israeli government is now saying they cannot confirm that Hamas terrorists cut off the heads of babies during their attack Saturday.

The statement contradicts previous reportsby Indian news website OpIndia and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Office.

"There have been cases of Hamas militants carrying out beheadings and other ISIS-style atrocities. However, we cannot confirm if the victims were men or women, soldiers or civilians, adults or children," an Israeli official told CNN.

Several journalists were let in to the Kfar Aza kibbutz Tuesday, located just outside the Gaza Strip, to see the aftermath of the attacks by Hamas.

At least 70 residents of the kibbutz were killed by Hamas terrorists.

A kibbutz is a small Israeli agricultural community. Kibbutz are dotted throughout Israel, primarily in the Negev Desert.

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Major General Itai Veruv described the scene in Kfar Aza as a "massacre," calling it unlike something Israel has witnessed in "recent history."

Netanyahu's office released photos Thursday showing "horrifying photos of babies murdered and burned by the Hamas monsters."

Three photos showed two babies whose bodies were burned beyond recognition and another of a blood-stained infant's body.

"Hamas is inhuman. Hamas is ISIS," the social media post read.

So far, more than 2,200 people have been killed on both sides–and the conflict is only expected to escalate.
