SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. The bathhouse at Kingsland Point Park became a little slice of Bavaria Saturday as Sleepy Hollow hosted its first Oktoberfest.
The village's Parks and Recreation Committee organized the festival, bringing in beer, food and music for a crowd of people.
People seem to be having a good time, Trustee Bruce Campbell said. It's early in the afternoon, too. I would say we're happy with it.
The Oktoberfest celebration also celebrated the park's new bathhouse. Although renovations on the bathhouse had been completed in 2011, it was not opened for use until this summer.
Kids ran around the park while parents and friends sampled the wide variety of beer on tap and food provided by Bridge View Tavern and Finalmente. The General Motors waterfront path was open for residents between Horan's Landing and Kingsland Point Park.
Campbell said the festival could become a new tradition.
We don't know, he said. It was the first time we were trying it this year. One of the things that I've been a proponent of is doing all kinds of events, mostly during the month of October, to hopefully draw in people.
